It Is That Time of Year to Take That Christmas Card Photo

When you are out with your family choosing that perfect photo spot for your holiday card, make sure to leave some “negative space.”  This means extra room on either top, bottom or sides to add design or wording.

One of the best way to do this would be take your photo further back or zoom out to get more space. Make sure to look at the background a more solid background will make your design easier to work with such as a cool wall or grass.

Nothing worse than having a perfect photo and having Merry Christmas over someone’s face … eek!

There are a few companies that offer free templates for designing your card  such as Canva – it is a free program and easy to use.

You can add water or even olive oil to adjust to desired consistency.Hand roll into small balls, place on to a parchment lined baking sheet and flatten with your hand.  To create “pumpkin lines”, press the flat side of a fork or knife gently down the the center of cookie. Use the curved side of a spoon and gently press down on either side of line you down center of cookie. Press green pea on the top  of cookie for stem. Bake for approximately for 15 minutes.

Note: You can substitute pumpkin for baby food. Baby food is smaller quantity and ideal if your making small batch and already smooth and pureed! Either one will keep your pumpkins orange naturally and keep it healthy. You can also substitute flour to use a flour of your choice.

Is it Harry Potter or Henry Potter?

I am very proud to be a HeartsSpeak photographer. I have been working with Cavalier Rescue over the past year and have absolutely enjoyed meeting and working with these little pups. They have had a rough time, but with their super sweet personalities and smiles you would never know that.  You can learn more a bout Cavalier Rescue here: https://www.cavalierrescueusa.org.

The latest rescue I have the opportunity to photograph is 10 month old Henry. He is sweet as can be and full of that crazy puppy energy.  You can mail Janet Hixson at janet.hixson@gmail.com for more info on this little guy.
